Part 1
[So I’ll talk about it]
Written by Serhiy Zhadan
So I’ll talk about it:
about the green eye of a demon in the colorful sky.
An eye that watches from the sidelines of a child’s sleep.
The eye of a misfit whose excitement replaces fear.
Everything started with music,
with scars left by songs
heard at fall weddings with other kids my age.

SO I’LL TALK ABOUT IT

SO I’LL TALK ABOUT IT
This is my favorite interpretation of Serhiy Zhadan's poem due to how the visual elements in the image resonate with the imagery and themes presented in the text.
The image prominently features a green eye, which directly aligns with the poem's opening line.
The eye in the image appears to be observing, creating a sense of watchfulness, much like the eye in the poem that watches from the sidelines of a child's sleep. This creates a feeling of quiet vigilance and presence.
The background of the image has a mix of vibrant colors, mimicking a colorful sky. This visual representation complements the surreal and vivid descriptions in the poem.

REBOOT

“The Persistence of Memory" is a famous surrealist painting by Salvador Dalí, completed in 1931. Known for its dreamlike quality, the artwork features a landscape with melting pocket watches draped over various objects, including a tree branch, a ledge, and a mysterious amorphous figure.

The Persistence of Memory

The Persistence of Memory
This is my favorite interpretation of of Salvador Dalí‘s painting “The persistence of memory” because The figure in the modern interpretation is struggling with a large red object, which is interpreted as a metaphor for the effort required to manage or cope with the passage of time. In the original painting, melting clocks symbolize the fluidity and subjective nature of time.
The clean lines and bold colors of the modern interpretation contrast with Dalí's intricate details but effectively capture the essence of the struggle against time.
The figure's dynamic pose suggests action and struggle, perhaps reflecting modern life's fast pace and constant battle against time constraints.
The modern design simplifies these elements, making them more abstract yet still evocative of the original’s themes.
conclusion
Both interpretations creatively capture the essence of their original works: Serhiy Zhadan's "So I’ll talk abot it"poem and Salvador Dalí's "The Persistence of Memory", by translating their themes into visually striking, modern designs. The first artwork uses vibrant colors and abstract imagery to evoke the poem's surreal, emotional landscape, while the second reimagines Dalí's exploration of time through a minimalist, dynamic depiction of struggle. Both pieces demonstrate how contemporary art can breathe new life into classic themes, making them accessible and relevant to today's audience.
